IKEA has invited the Swedish Club of Houston to its next volunteer event with BEAR (Be A Resource for Kids in CPS), Thursday December 7, 2017 from 5pm to 7pm.

BEAR is a non-profit organization that provides emergency goods and services directly to children under the care of Child Protective Services (CPS) in Harris County. Activities will include toy organization, CPS wish list shopping, and load-out of gifts.  Snacks and drinks will be provided for volunteers.

This event is open to all of IKEA’s friends and family -- that’s us! Volunteers must be at least 12 years old and if under 16 accompanied by an adult chaperone. The warehouse is located at 630 W. 6th Street.  The warehouse space is not climate controlled, so volunteers are advised to dress in clothing appropriate for the weather and comfortable shoes.

There is no RSVP process; just let the IKEA rep (Carlos Mier) know that you heard about this opportunity through the Swedish Club of Houston! Carlos will be there throughout the whole event. It is a relatively short volunteer window so it is recommend that volunteers arrive about 10-15 minutes early in order to fill out the organization’s paperwork (1 waiver of liability).
